As for getting model kits, although eBay is usually quite good, you might also want to try Japanese-based online retailers such as HobbyLink Japan (hlj.com) or Hobby Search (www.1999.co.jp/eng). I've just bought an Academy F-14A from Hobby Search. I'm surprised by how reasonable their price is (even including P&H to the "bottom of the world"!). They also packaged the box very nicely, preventing accidental damage. My F-14 came in a box twice the size of the Academy box, filled with padding!
