Hello, I have been building models for less than a year. I have completed two models so far (one a tug boat, another a 1/48 f-22 raptor) and have a 3rd on the bench (on hold).
This site is amazing, i have found myself poking around in the automotive and motorcycle sections. I am an IPMS member as well.

I am confused on where to start to find a model kit for a motorcycle (without having to go to the UK or japan), where do you guys go? Also where do you guys go for your aftermarket stuff.. ?
I thought about asking this in the motorcycle WIP but I only saw build postings and didn't want to put my questions in the wrong sections. I also did a search on aftermarket parts and boy it came up with TONS of 'parts' findings.. lol

I have seen some of the BEAUTIFUL work here, I am sure someone has a method of "i get my model kits from x,y, or z. Then i go for the aftermarket parts at a, b, or c"

Any advice would be great, I mean heck I could throw a rock and hit 6 different locations what will have aircraft and aftermarket parts for aircraft.

thanks
Sean, San Francisco Ca

Welcome to eScale tragik, great to have you here. The best way is to share your work with us and ask questions along the way. Simply state what kit you want to build and the level of detail and I'm sure someone will be able to point in the right direction.
As for after market parts, there's a lot of places you can purchase after market parts. We even have our own little store that helps support and keep escale alive.

Sean... welcome to eScale! I'm always thrilled to see another motorcycle builder here. As for sources, eBay is a good place for kits, but there are several other online sites as well your local hobby stores. In terms of aftermarket products, other than our store here, Hiroboy.com is a great place. Yep, he's in the UK, but usually ships very fast and reliably.

Welcome to escale Sean! Maybe I'm lucky to have a well stocked hobby store locally that carries a full range of kits of all genres as well as a full range of supplies. I would expect San Fran to have a list of model/ hobby stores listed in the phone directory: I think that's what I would do is begin with your local phone directory's yellow pages, and make a few phone calls to find places to visit. :armata_PDT_12:
play on...
